Surrounded by their striking images of Pakistan and Syria, Tehmina Ahmed and Elisabeth Braun were the special guest speakers at Twelve Gates Gallery on Friday, October 23rd, 2009. The photographers, from two very distinct parts of the world, each made very different presentations to those in attendance.

For the month of October Twelve Gates Art Gallery has been hosting a special exhibit entitled “Teen Auratein, Teen Kahaniyan” (Three Women, Three Stories), featuring photographic work from three international female artists: Tehmina Ahmed, Elisabeth Braun, and Ruqayya Rizwan. While these artists’ identities intersect at various moments, either geographically or in education and career, each woman approaches her work with a different vision and execution. Each artist brings a unique aesthetic approach to their distinct subject matter to create images that are captivating and intriguing.
